Entertainment AI upbeat on recent Rugby World Cup tech pilot

(Sharecast News) - Technology and media platform company Entertainment AI updated the market on its recent Rugby World Cup pilot on Tuesday, in which its wholly-owned technology subsidiary Tagasauris, participated in a pilot with strategic partner Sumitomo Corporation to deliver an "enriched audience viewing experience" for the tournament, from 2 September to 2 November, on Sumitomo's JSports network.

The AIM-traded firm said the Rugby World Cup was an "important opportunity" for the group to demonstrate its technology to its partner.

It said the pilot was a "highly successful" merchandising event for JSports, with it providing an effective bridge between audiences and JSports' e-commerce merchandising.

It also saw the successful embedding of its technology in JSports videos to extract video highlights and create "micro-moments" for publication, which were opportunities for audiences to learn, explore and buy.

Examples of micro-moments included fan highlights including 'tries', 'yellow and red cards', and 'penalties'.

Entertainment AI reported a strong yield on published micro-moments, with 500 micro-moments resulting in around one million fresh views on JSports team pages and 500,000 additional search engine result pages.

Finally, the company said the pilot made a "significant contribution" to jump starting a new marketing campaign for the Rugby World Cup, in terms of improving click through rates.

The board said that, based on the success of its technologies as demonstrated at the Rugby World Cup, it had now launched a pilot to deploy a suite of proprietary technology tools to its existing content creator network, in a bid to provide enhanced opportunities for revenue growth in 2020 and beyond.

"We are excited to get underway operationally," said chief executive officer Todd Carter.

"Given the success of our technology implementation and our strong capital base, we are adding to our accomplished technology team and plan to accelerate the delivery of value-add opportunities to our audiences and content creators, as well as to partner audiences and third-party brands.

"We anticipate that our successful Rugby World Cup pilot will provide us with the launchpad to increase the monetisation and engagement from major sporting events in 2020 and beyond for our customers."
