Versarien partners with Insertec in refractory products project

(Sharecast News) - Versarien on Wednesday signed a collaboration agreement to test a new application for its Hexotene material with Spanish furnace and refractory products manufacturer Insertec.
The new deal will see the two parties work together to incorporate Versarien's Hexotene product into certain refractory materials in an attempt to enhance their performance in molten metal applications.

Versarien said the material's key beneficial properties include high thermal stability, high thermal conductivity, high mechanical strength and resistance to a number of chemicals and solvents.

Hexotene is a layered structure similar to graphite and was added to the AIM traded company's 2D material product range in March 2018.

Chief executive Neill Ricketts said: "I am delighted that Versarien is working with Insertec with a view to enhancing the performance of their ceramics, used in foundries and other areas when molten metals are handled, through the addition of Versarien's Hexotene. This is our first collaboration utilising Hexotene in a high temperature industrial application and we look forward to working with the Insertec team."

Ricketts added that other key collaborations are progressing in line with expectations, while discussions regarding other potential applications for the company's 2D materials are currently underway.

Versarien shares were up 1.87% at 98.30p at 1037 BST.
